Taken by Alan Roberts Sensei, This week of training starts on Sunday evening 10th October and concludes on Sunday the 17th of October at 4pm. Alan Roberts began practicing Aikido in 1987 at the age of 17. Between 1988 and 1994 he studied with Morihiro Saito, in Iwama, Japan and is currently a Sixth Dan in Aikido with the Aikikai Foundation. 

Roberts also holds and a Degree Three and teaching licence in Cheng Hsin. Additionally Roberts holds a blue belt in Brazillian Jiujitsu and was inducted into the New Zealand Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2011. As well as a busy teaching schedule in his dojo and around New Zealand, Roberts has a professional practice in Hellerwork Structural Integration, a system of bodywork and movement education designed to align and balance the body in gravity, improving fluidity, efficiency and grace of movement. Roberts taught movement for Unitec’s Performing Arts School between 2011 and 2014.

Auckland Seishinkan offers New Zealand’s only residential intensive programme modeled on the Japanese uchi-deshi system. Students live and train in the dojo full-time for seven days with a minimum of five hours of structured classes each day.
